Kodak Easyshare W1020 Digital Frame {Review & Giveaway}

8.01.2009 836 comments

As a mom, I take a plethora of photographs of my son on a daily basis. Of course, I would fall in love with a product that allows to share those photos (and even the videos!) I take of my baby boy. The product I am obviously talking about is the Kodak W1020 Digital Frame.

The frame is large enough to see from across the room at 10 inches. There are so many ways to add photos, I can never see myself not being able to upload something. There is a slot for my SD cards, as well as my XD cards. That same slot also fits other types of cards such as MMC and MS. There is a compact flash drive. There is a USB port, as well as a smaller port, making a surplus of ways to add photos, videos and any other content you deem necessary. My only disappointment was that I could install the Kodak software on my MAC laptop, since it is not compatible. Luckily, I have Windows on my PC and many other ways to upload content.

The frame connects to the internet wirelessly, so you are able to stream news and weather updates from it, if you wish. I was a bit confused at first (the dumb blonde in me!) and thought that it had a touch screen, but actually the border is what you need to touch to control everything. Oops!

I love the slideshow feature, mainly because I had to do next to nothing to get it started. All I did was insert my XD card and my photos and videos were part of a high-quality slide show. The photos were vivid and the frame alternated zooming in and zooming out from picture to picture. The photographs remain on the screen for twenty to thirty seconds and then fade to black and white, giving a quite classy look. Speaking of looking classy, the frame comes with silver and red borders to match your home's decor.

There are many ways people can interact with photos everyday to strengthen their relationships with others. Judy Weiser, a world authority in PhotoTherapy techniques, has partnered with Kodak to help Americans combat loneliness and reach out to the people they miss. PhotoTherapy tips include:

1. Create A Picture-Perfect Environment: Decorate your space with photos of friends, family, loved ones and places you enjoy. Be sure to select photos that contain strong positive memories. Every photo has feelings and memories just underneath its surface; choosing the right one lets you to revisit those moments all over again.

2. Share Your World: The people you miss, miss you too. Let the important people in your life know how you’re doing by sharing not just the special moments but the ordinary moments too. Sharing the “small stuff” can have a BIG impact on your relationships.

3. Interview Your Photo: Unlock the magic of your photo. Find the happiest picture in your collection and imagine a conversation with it. What positive message would it want you to know? How would it like you to feel? What would it want you to remember?

4. Try a Photo Pick Me Up: Beat your blues! Find your most positive photo and carry it with you. Looking at a photo of happier times puts you right back there again, feeling that same way, right now!

5. Breaking the Ice: Turn your photos into conversation starters. Behind every picture is a great story that wants to be told; it's just waiting for you to ask! Sharing your photos is like sharing your life; when others hear your anecdotes, connections are made that can last a lifetime.

    My favorite feature is that it's 10 inches. Most are only about 7 inches and you can barely even see the pictures on those. Having a 10 inch screen sounds fabulous, thanks.

    I like the slideshow feature. Much more fun to look at multiple pictures than a single photo.

    10 inches means the orientation of some photos which would be small will be larger and easier to see.

    Stumbled by clicking on bookmark at end of posting. I gave it a thumbs up. Put in tags that it was "music" added a second tag of "Movie". Marked it was NOT adult content and entered.

    I then closed and reopened stumble to find somehow I put it into porn. I have requested a correction to put this nice, family site into music and movies.

    I hope you have a sense a humor. It will take a day or two to correct.
